Hello Winter!

I am, by nature, a Florida Girl. I believe in being able to go to the beach at least 340 days a year. I think it's perfectly acceptable to wear flip flops as long as it's above 50 degrees. And I really have only worn scarves for a fashion accessory, not for actual warmth. So imagine my amazement when it snowed here this week! Real snow! And for hours! Since I was stuck at work late the evening this occured I couldn't take any pictures of my own, but here is one I grabbed off of our our newspaper's website.

And as if once isn't a enough of a novelty, it's supposed to happen again tomorrow night! You can rest assure I will be inside by the fire hibernating, but this time I'll be sure to step out and get some pictures of my own:)

2008 is going to be a busy year!

2007 was a crazy year. Matt and I got married, moved in together, I got a new (and I might add amazing) job, our best friends got pregnant, several of our closest friends got married, we went on a family cruise to the Bahamas, went to Vegas for Halloween, I went on my first business trips to NYC, Athens Greece, Chicago IL, and Miami FL., my best friend Kristin got engaged, we hosted our first Christmas, at least one of us went to just about every Clemson home football game, and the list goes on and on...

That being said, I think 2008 is going to be even busier, but we can't wait. Here's just a list of things we're looking forward to in 2008. Fasten your seatbelts!

Chad and Amanda, two of our dearest friends, are expecting their first child, Emma Elaine Hunter, on Superbowl Sunday (2/3/08). Matt and I have Loved experiencing all of the fun things about pregnancy with them and feel so lucky to be around to see them become parents! I think I'm just about as excited as they are. We can't wait to babysit and watch her grow up.

My best friend, Kristin (mentioned in prevous post re: engagement) is getting married on September 13, 2008. Anyone who was at our wedding knows she was THE BEST Maid of Honor and I cannot wait to repay her for all that she did for me. This also of course means we'll be having a major bachelorette party for her!

We are going to a ski vacation in February with 4 other friends to Breckinridge, Colorado for 5 days. Seeing as how I've only skied once and it was on fake show in Tennessee, it should be interesting ;)

I will be going to Paris for business in March and then my sister and maybe mom are going to fly over and stay a few extra days with me. I took French in high school hoping that one day I'd make it over there, and it has finally happened! I can't wait to eat croissants and take my picture in front of le Tour Eifell. In addition to Paris, I'll also be going back to Chicago, possibly Tokyo, and other cities TBD.

We will continue to work on and update our house. We are wrapping up the painting with the living room this Saturday, will be replacing the kitchen countertops, changing out light fixtures, and a few other small aesthetic updates.

I will try to update this page more consistently in 2008 (one of my many new years resolutions) so that we can share all of fun happenings in our life with you guys!

Merry Christmas from the Mardens!

Here are a few pictures of our wonderful first Christmas as a married couple.
We were so lucky to get to see both of our families for this holiday which was such a blessing- thank goodness my parents are willing to travel to come see us! (and thank goodness Matt's parents live so close!

Matt and I bought this dining room set way before we were married because we loved it and it was a great bargain. Hard to believe, but Christmas Eve dinner was our first official meal on it! Thanks to my Dad for the beautiful arrangement he sent us- it was gorgeous and such a great centerpiece for dinner.
As one of my (favorite) Christmas gifts, my mom re-did our linen closet for us. I know this may sound silly, but if you could see how pretty it is in person and how amazing it smells when you open it, you would completely understand. She is a master at the art of interior decorating and linen closets have definitely become her forte :)

This was another one of our favorites. Matt's parents got us this great TV stand for our family room. It looks perfect in the room and we love it.

My Dad is known for cleverly wrapping/disguising gifts around this time of year. We opened a box and inside was a piece of fake grass, a small white dog, and a plastic fence- he had sent us money to fence in our back yard! Can you tell we were a little bit spoiled this year?

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and a great end to 2007. Be back in 2008!

Happy New Year Ya'll!

Happy New Year Everyone! I promise to post pictures of our wonderful Christmas later on today, but wanted to wish everyone a wonderful 2008 in the meantime.
More to come!
